[Rosslyn, VA] – Reverend Bill Shuler and his family moved from Oklahoma to the DC area just 10 days before the September 11 terrorist attacks. In response to this tragedy, the Shulers established a prayer center one block from the U.S. Capitol building on September 12, 2001. One year later in August, those prayer meetings and Bible studies with national and international leaders launched Capital Life Church. Now five years later, Capital Life is a vibrant, interdenominational church of 300 who are making an incredible difference in the DC metro area. “I thought God wanted us to reach everyone from the man and woman on the street that feel forgotten, to the leaders of our nation, to the international community,” said Rev. Shuler. “That’s a very large vision, yet our church is only 5 years old and every aspect of the vision is coming true before our eyes.”
From international mission trips in Africa, Central America and Europe to prayer walks down Embassy Row to feeding the homeless at Carpenter’s Shelter to numerous fellowship groups in homes and at the White House, Pentagon and Justice Department, Capital Life Church is on the move. Capital Life has also taken the unusual step of partnering with an inner-city church, Rehoboth Rebirth & Restoration Church (RRRC) in Washington, DC’s inner city, pastored by Bishop Keith Martin. RRRC has attended services at Capital Life, and on July 22, Capital Life spent Sunday worshipping in Capitol Heights with RRRC, celebrating their new building which Capital Life helped fund.
“Capital Life Church has been a wonderful blessing to Rehoboth Rebirth & Restoration Church,” said Bishop Keith Martin. “Through monetary contributions in addition to their time, CLC has ecclesiastically enhanced RRRC spiritually and culturally.”
Rev. Bill Shuler is the seventh generation in an unbroken line of ministers. His father, evangelist Jack Shuler, was a contemporary and close friend of the Rev. Billy Graham. His grandfather, the Rev. Bob Shuler, was named by Los Angeles Magazine as the “first of the great radio ministers.” Capital Life Church meets for contemporary praise and worship and powerful, purposeful messages in the Rosslyn Spectrum off Wilson Boulevard on 1611 Kent Street, accessible by Metro on the Orange and Blue lines. Capital Life Church is a non-denominational community, and visitors are welcome. For more information or links to the services on YouTube, visit www.capitallifechurch.com. |
