Capital Life Family

We are so thankful that you are a part of our spiritual family!

2021 has been a very memorable year….we started January with services online and reopened the church in March. It has been so refreshing to be back together in our building while continuing online services, worshiping with one heart and voice, with a fresh infusion of hope for what lies ahead of us as a church. Because of your amazing generosity, we as a church have been able to grow in our relationship with God, continue to develop authentic relationships, and increase our outreach to our community.

Here are highlights from our ministries to show how God has been at work among us in powerful ways:

Worship & Creative

We are so thankful for the ability to now be able to stream practical, biblical messages from Pastor Bill and our teaching team and have anointed, passionate worship each week both in-person and online. We also launched a new website this year! It has made our ministry as a church even more effective by creating a brand new space to engage with our Sunday Streams, media, ministries, news and events.

Our mobile app had a refresh as well and has become such a great way to engage with Capital Life right from your phone, tablet, or TV streaming devices. This year our YouTube channel has reached nearly 20 countries with over 52,000 videos viewed for over 5,700 total hours! Maybe you were even one of the 18,000 search links from Google that found a home at Capital Life.

Family Ministry

We have been able to provide a safe and secure environment for our kiddos to learn about how much Jesus loves them and help them grow in their walk with God. We have doubled our family ministry leaders since March to help welcome the 25 new families that have come to visit since we started back live services.

We had student ministry during the second service and offered many fun social events and groups throughout the year to build relationships. We took students to summer camp, where many encountered God in a new way and developed a deeper hunger for Jesus. It's been a new adventure to adapt how we do ministry to our next generation, but God was with us each step of the way!

Reach Further

We increased our reach to our community in significant ways this year! We delivered over 1000 pounds of food and clothing to those in need through our monthly outreaches to the homeless in DC and our partnership with Arlington Food Assistance Center and Martha’s Table in DC. We made over 1500 sandwiches for our homeless brothers and sisters- we were able to give many in person and pray together.

Impact Lives

There is a personal story that sheds light on how we collaborated with a local crisis pregnancy center this past Summer to throw a baby shower for a beautiful young woman named Mercy. She shared how God confirmed through your generosity that He is going to take care of her and her son Elijah. She has visited Capital Life several times and is desiring to raise Elijah to know and walk with God.

New Opportunity

This Fall, we were given a unique divine appointment to help 3 precious refugee families from Afghanistan. Our outreach ministry partnered with Above All Else to provide 29 refugees with clothing, shoes, and a travel bag. In addition, we were able to provide meals, kitchen supplies, groceries, toys, and medical needs.

outreach

We also partnered with Glebe Elementary to bless local low income families by donating backpacks with school supplies, providing Thanksgiving meal kits, and giving Christmas presents with gift cards to kids and families in need.

Above All Else

We had several “Coffee, Walk, and Talks” to deepen our relationships with each other and to welcome new ladies into our wonderful community who have decided to make Capital Life their home.

We also did two studies together to guide us into deeper faith. We began with the study on the Lord’s Prayer called “Pray Like This” that focused on praying with power and authenticity, like Jesus taught and modeled for us. Our next study was called “Growing in Grace”, which taught us the importance of spiritual disciplines as a way to position ourselves to receive God’s love and grow in relational connection with Him and others!

groups and prayer.

We had 32 Life Groups, several all-church picnics, and numerous corporate prayer and worship nights this year to help us stay connected and grow together. We also were very excited to have 14 people get baptized and publicly declare their love for Jesus and desire to live for Him.

We Love Our Church.

Life Groups had Men’s, Women’s, Married, Single, Activity, Dance, and Outreach Groups that have focused on studying God’s Word, building relationships, and impacting our community! For the Prayer Ministry, we had church wide prayer gatherings, met as a small group for prayer, teaching and worship, and continued to pray over personal and corporate prayer requests.

C3 Young Adults

We studied Paul’s Letters to the Churches, a Word of Wisdom series, and the Life of David. We offered a safe space for C3 members to meet in person and grow in their faith. In addition to Bible Study, we met for many Sunday lunches after church, and did events together like Water Olympics, cookouts in the park, pizza parties, Friendsgiving, and our annual Christmas party. We also provided an online presence by streaming our large group meetings on Facebook live for individuals who couldn't come in person.

Missions

We continue to support missionaries both locally and abroad in Thailand, Niger, and Haiti! You helped bring the gospel to unreached areas, provided resources for relational discipleship, and made a lasting global impact!

We love being your pastors

Thank you so much for your faithful and consistent giving that helped make all this ministry and life change possible! Wise financial decisions were made throughout the year including the refinancing of the church mortgage to allow for a lower interest rate and earlier payoff. We are praying for all God has for us in 2022, as we move forward together in the mission God has given us to “Love God Authentically, Grow Together Intentionally, and Serve Others Sacrificially”!
