Outreach During Quarantine
In addition to the organizations and local outreaches we already support, we are seeking to reach out to those in need during this unique time.
Christmas Stars – We are excited to be partnering with Glebe Elementary to help provide Christmas presents for families in need. We are so appreciative of your generosity, as these children might not receive Christmas presents otherwise. Matthew 25:40 reminds us that Jesus says, “Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for me.”
Since we are not meeting in person for you to pick up a Christmas star, we created a virtual option. We have designated drop times where you can bring your gift to the church. The last day for drop off is Thursday, December 17th.
- Click here to choose a child and which present you would like to give.
- Mark your name on the document next to the family/child you choose.
- Purchase the gift and wrap the gift.
- Please write the family number, child’s gender and age on a tag on the outside of the gift.
- Drop off the gift at the church at one of the designated drop-off times (see below).
You can also give at Capitallife.org/give and select “Christmas Outreach”. We will use your donation to purchase a gift or gift card. Please give by Sunday, December 13th so we have time to purchase and wrap the gift. If you have any questions or need to coordinate a drop off time outside the hours below, please email us at email@example.com. Thank you so much for being such an incredibly generous church!
Drop Off Times
- Monday, December 7th and 14th // 10a-4p
- Tuesday, December 8th and 15th // 7p-9p
- Wednesday, December 9th and 16th // 8a-6p
- Thursday, December 10th and 17th // 6p-8:30p
- Sunday, December 13th // During Services
Local Food Bank – We are partnering with Arlington Food Assistance Center to help provide food for those in need. Demand for food banks has surged amid the pandemic, but the issue of food insecurity is hitting one group of Americans worse than others, families with children. One in three families with kids is experiencing food insecurity during the pandemic, double the rate since 2018. We are collecting any non-perishables, but AFAC shared there was especially a need for canned soups, canned vegetables, canned tuna/meat, canned tomatoes, peanut butter in plastic jars, and cereal. You can bring donations to the boxes in the front of the church. If you have any questions, please email our Outreach Directors, Rachel and Sheng, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Local Hospital – We are going to be dropping off hundreds of meals at Virginia Hospital Center for the medical workers who are on the front lines every day. These meals are coming from a local restaurant (owned by a CLCer) but are possible because of your generosity! We are not able to have volunteers for these outreaches, but we would love your prayers for each medical worker there. They will be receiving a note from CLC that we are praying for them each time we bring food. We are asking God to be their strength, protection, and that He would draw them to Himself (and for any that are not planted in a church to bring them to Capital Life).
Care Packages – If you know anyone in our CLC community in the medical profession, we would love to honor them for their courageous service. If you would be interested in helping with a care package, please email email@example.com.
Cards – If you would like to mail a card of encouragement or a picture drawn by your children to the residents at Sunrise, you can send those to: Sunrise Senior Living, 2000 N Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22207. They are not able to have visitors during this time so a note or picture would brighten their day!
If you would like to support Outreach at Capital Life Church, you can click here to give once or set up reoccurring giving. As Genesis 12:2 reminds us, “We are blessed to be a blessing” so thank you for your generosity, which allows us to continue meaningful ministry during this time and reach out to those in need in impactful ways.
Capital Life Church Outreach Ministry is the local missions ministry of Capital Life Church. We are committed to participating in our community as God’s people, at God’s invitation and command, and with the direction of His Holy Spirit. We focus on showing Christ in our community by putting our skills, talents, and effort to Kingdom use. To sign up or obtain more information about local outreach, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Every Capital Life Church member is a missionary to their local community. Our goal is to move beyond ourselves and to engage with our community in the name of Christ.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. – Matthew 25:35-36
