No one thrives alone. We all need good friends. Capital Life Church celebrates meaningful relationships through its small group ministry. Each "Life Group" is composed of 6-15 people who join together each month to enjoy, strengthen and encourage each other. Each group is unique and is based on common interests.
2:42 GroupsCapital Life's 2:42 Groups are regional groups that meet regularly around the DC metro area for food and fellowship. These groups are based on the early church described in Acts 2:42, “They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Your 2:42 Group will help you get to know other Capital Life-ers in your area, develop meaningful relationships with each other, and enjoy good food while you're at it! Email lifegroups at capitallife dot org for more information.
Spiritual Growth and DiscipleshipTruth in Love (NEW!)Ephesians 4:15 assumes that mature Christians will “speak the truth in love” and Titus 1:9 says Christian leaders should “encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.” It sounds good, but how do you live out that truth when a well-studied Mormon stumps you at your front door, or a philosophy professor attacks your Christian faith and morals with a well-reasoned argument? This all-ages group will focus on speaking truth to our culture, understanding the diverse world around us, and always reflecting Christ's love. All levels of knowledge are welcome. We will meet on the first and third Sundays of each month after church (12:20-1:30p) for lunch. We will begin our journey with a study of other religions (Mormonism, Islam) and how to have a meaningful discussion with people in those religions. Contact David: alaskadavid at gmail dot com for more information. The Words and Works of Jesus (NEW!)A set of Bible Studies based on some of the teachings and miracles of Jesus, based on accounts from the Gospel books. We will look at the application of what the Lord taught and did, and how we can walk in His footsteps in today's context. Suitable for anyone who seeks more. Meets Fridays in Arlington. For more information, contact Minoli Haththotuwa: epastorminoli at gmail dot com. Springfield/Kingstowne-Area Bible StudyThis life group meets twice a month on Monday nights. Living the Grad Life (NEW!)For many of us, graduate school is a unique time in life when we are pushing ourselves and our careers to the next level. It is also a time of deadlines, late nights, too much caffeine, and neglected relationships. This group will provide a forum to lift our fellow grad students in prayer and encourage one another, as well as a community to share study tips and provide edits. No time for another committment? No problem. This group will largely be facilitated via email, with a few get-togethers to celebrate milestones of the semester! For more information, email Erica: erica dot brettell at gmail dot com. Events are held at different locations each month. Come join us as we seek our God and learn more about being women after His heart. Contact women at capitallife dot org to be added to our list! Exploring PrayerThis group is continuing our exploration of devotional and intercessory prayer. Our goal is to motivate each other to bring glory to our Maker by cultivating our love for Him and developing our understanding of how to pray for specific requests. As an overflow of this, we encourage one another to become women of excellence in our culture, our workplaces, and our personal lives. We will study Scripture and prominent Christian leaders who have written on these topics. Mainly, we will study the book Prayer Shield by C. Peter Wagner. The group meets every other Monday from 7:30-9:30 p.m. For more information, please contact Julie: Julie dot Carmean at gmail dot com. Mothers with Young Children PlaygroupMoms need other moms! We also hope to go through a Christian book (slowly!) pertaining to our current place in life each semester to serve as a topic of conversation when we meet.
