How Change Affects Us
Change is a significant source of stress in our lives. Whether it's a change in marital status, occupation, health, finances, or the death of a loved one, these transitions can be overwhelming. Studies show that these moments of change are some of the most stressful experiences we face.

Examples of Change in History
From witnessing man walk on the moon to the fall of the Berlin Wall, history is filled with monumental changes. Technological advancements like laptops, cell phones, and AI have transformed our lives. However, not all change is positive. We've also seen shifts in morals, ethics, and values that have left many feeling unsettled.

Biblical References
In Malachi 3:6, God declares, "I, the Lord, do not change." This statement is echoed in Psalm 33:11, which says, "The plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations." James 1:17 further emphasizes that God "does not change like shifting shadows."

Why It Matters
Understanding that God does not change provides a sense of stability and security. Unlike the shifting shadows of this world, God's promises and commitments remain steadfast. This is crucial for believers who seek to live a life pleasing to God, knowing that His character and promises are unchanging.

Historical Examples
The same God who stood with Moses as he parted the Red Sea, who empowered David to defeat Goliath, and who delivered Daniel from the lion's den, is the same God who stands with us today. These historical examples serve as a testament to God's unchanging nature and His unwavering support for His people.

Theological Insights
J.I. Packer, in his book "Knowing God," emphasizes the relevance of God's immutability in the lives of Christians. He argues that fellowship with God, trust in His word, and living by faith are as relevant today as they were for Old and New Testament believers. This thought brings both comfort and a searching challenge to live up to the standards set by our spiritual ancestors.

Trusting God's Promises
God's character never changes. His holiness, justice, mercy, and truth remain the same. This means that His promises are reliable. In Matthew 24:35, Jesus says, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." This assurance allows us to trust God fully, knowing that His word is eternal.

Living in Faith
Hebrews 13:8 states, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." This means that the same Jesus who performed miracles, healed the sick, and raised the dead is the same Jesus who is with us today. This unchanging nature of Christ encourages us to live in faith, knowing that He is capable of doing the same miracles in our lives.

Understanding that God is unchanging should transform how we live our lives. Here are some practical steps to apply this message:

1. Trust in God's Promises: Reflect on the promises God has made in the Bible and trust that they are still valid today.
2. Live by Faith: Just as the heroes of faith in the Bible trusted God, we should also live by faith, believing that God is capable of performing miracles in our lives.
3. Seek Stability in God: In times of change and uncertainty, find your stability in God's unchanging nature.

Trust in His promises, live by faith, and seek stability in His unchanging character. This week, challenge yourself to apply these principles and experience the peace that comes from serving a changeless God.
